Welcome to our Team!
San Clemente Aquatic Team (SCAT) has served the tri-city
area since 1975. Unfortunately SCAT face’s many
challenges for pool space and will again be forced to limit the
number of swimmers who are anxious to be a part of our program. We
expect to have a new home in 2012 with the completion of the San
Clemente Aquatic Center off of Vista Hermosa/La Pata.
REGISTRATION PROCEDURES
The San Clemente Aquatic Team
registration procedure begins with a swimmer evaluation by a
coach. Minimum requirements are one
length (25yds) of freestyle and one length of backstroke. Swimmers who do not pass the evaluation are
encouraged to sign up for swim lessons with a local program. Try-outs are held on most Fridays at 4:45
PM. To confirm your try-out, please
email Coach Mike Eber.
Once evaluated, the swimmer will
be placed in the appropriate group based on age and ability (and
group openings). If our groups are full, you will be placed
on a waiting list. Prior to your first
workout you must contact our team administrator, to complete the
registration process. Registration must
be completed prior to swimmer attending practice.
Besides the monthly dues there
are two registration fees required of all swimmers.
The team registration fee for
San Clemente Aquatics Team is $75 per family. This is a
one-time fee as long as the swimmer does not become inactive for
more than 12 calendar months. This fee
will be added to your first month invoice.
The registration fee for
Southern California Swimming is $55 per swimmer. Check or
cash are accepted for the SCS registration.
o This is an annual
fee for the calendar year January through December. Any swimmer registering in September-December is
also covered for the next calendar year. For example, a new swimmer beginning September 1,
2010 will be registered with SCS until December of 2011.
o It is mandatory to
show an original birth certificate or passport (no copies) at the
time of registration and provide a copy with your registration
forms.
Monthly Dues and
the Family Registration Fee must be paid with a credit
card. We accept VISA, MasterCard and American
Express.
After your team registration is
complete, you will receive an email with the login procedure. This will allow you to enter our web site
and review your swimmers information and current SCAT news.
MEMBERSHIP DUES/BILLING
POLICY
Monthly
Dues and the Family Registration Fee must be paid with a credit
card. We accept
VISA, MasterCard and American Express. The first month’s dues
and fees will be billed to your credit card at the time of
registration. All monthly dues thereafter will be billed to
your credit card on the 10th of the month for all items
reflected in your account invoiced or un-invoiced. You can view your account
balance 24/7 through our website at www.scatswim.org. Once you
have signed in, if you click on "my invoices/payments" you can view
what charges have been made and the amount that will be charged to
your credit card. (Invoices are processed on the 21st of each month
for the following month).
· The first
month’s dues are based on the date of the first practice that
the swimmer attends. For all swimmers starting practice prior to
the 15th, a full month’s dues will be
charged. For all swimmers starting practice on or after the
15th, half month’s dues will be charged.
· WE DO NOT PRORATE
MONTHLY DUES. Monthly dues are required of ALL
swimmers; swim dues will not be prorated based upon
attendance.
· Swim Meet
Fees: Upon your declaration to swim,
the SCAT coaching staff will enter your swimmer (s) in all swim
meets on your behalf. If you declare to swim a given
meet, you will be responsible for all meet entry fees regardless of
whether your swimmer swims or not. Team entries are submitted
to the host team based on your declaration anywhere from 10-12
days prior to the meet start date. Once the team check has
been sent all entry fees submitted are non refundable.
NOTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
·
All requests for extended absences from the team must be in
writing (email) and sent to our Team Administrator, Kym. THIS NOTICE MUST BE RECEIVED PRIOR TO
SEPARATION DATE. You must notify our
Team Administrator. Please do not
expect your coach to notify for you.If notice is given within the
month, you are responsible for the month’s dues.
·
If you do not notify Kym, your account will
be charged as though your child was swimming for that
period.
·
Leave of Absence (i.e., vacation, other sports, taking a
break): If a swimmer decides to take a leave of absence for a
period of less than (12) months, they will be charged a $25 (per
swimmer) fee to reactivate their account. We do not "hold"
spots, so it is important that you check back with your coach
should you decide to return to swimming. If we are FULL you
will be placed on the waiting list. PLEASE DO NOT TAKE YOUR SWIMMER TO PRACTICE AND DROP
THEM OFF WITHOUT FIRST CHECKING WITH YOUR COACH.
·
Leave of Absence (High School Swimming, maximum of 4
months): If a swimmer decided to take a leave of absence to
participate in High School Swimming (Feb-May) and returns to the
team NO LATER than June 1, no reactivation fee will be charged to
your account.
·
Medical Leave of Absence: Dues will be waived for any
illness or injury if the swimmer is absent for one or more full
calendar months.
FAQ’s
When is payment due? Swim dues are due by the 10th of the month and
considered late on the 11th. A late fee of $10.00
may be assessed to any account with a balance due on the
11th of that month. If your account becomes 30
days past due and no communication has been made, an invoice will
be emailed to your email of record to inform you that your child
will be unable to practice until a payment on your account is
made.
How many
practices must my child attend each week? With the younger kids and
swimmers new to swimming, it is suggested that they attend at least
three practices a week, although they are more than welcome to
attend all five. The more advanced groups are usually more
committed and expected to attend four or all five of the practices
offered weekly. No certain numbers of practices are
mandatory, and a child will not be punished for having schoolwork
or participating in other activities. There is however, a
direct correlation between good attendance and good performance.
Do
you prorate?
No. If you swim a specific month whether once or twenty
times, you will owe the full monthly dues. We have budgeted
for pool rental and coaching salaries based upon a full complement
of paid swimmers in each group each month. Therefore, in
order to maintain your swimmer’s place within the groups,
dues, must be paid promptly and consistently. In addition, we
are not able to hold spots for inactive
swimmers.
What do I do if my
child is going to miss a month of practice or decides not to
swim?See Notification Requirements (above).
What if my
Invoice/Billing is incorrect? Contact Kym. You should discuss any changes in your
child’s status with their coach and then contact Kym Sabins
as soon as possible so that your account may be adjusted
accordingly. To clear up any billing problems, please
contact Kym directly so that the problem does not persist on future
bills.
